Lawrence Wins Dramatic Playoff Over Paul Casey at Omega European Masters, Hits Historic Peak in Emotional Victory

The drama unfolded at Crans-sur-Sierre GC as Thriston Lawrence defeated Paul Casey in a four-hole playoff to win the Omega European Masters 2026. This marked Lawrence's sixth title at the event, three of them here. Defending champion Lawrence equaled Seve Ballesteros as the only three-time winners of the European Masters and was even handed the trophy by Cindy Crawford. Lawrence noted the historic 54-year run at the same course. Casey was emotional chasing his first win since 2026 Dubai Desert Classic and pledged prize money to charities for the devastating fire in Crans Montana in January that killed 40 and injured 115. Casey earned $412,500. He struggled early with one-handed finishes but settled with a birdie. The contenders chased aggressively. Lawrence made eight birdies for 18-under. Casey made a back-nine move. Despite stumbles, Casey played with a smile. He had a double-bogey 6 at the sixth but did a walk-and-talk. He birdied the seventh but bogeyed the eighth and birdied ninth. Four birdies from the 11th put him one ahead. Lawrence had 18-under. Casey’s approach on 18 narrowly hopped over a creek leading to bogey and playoff. Casey could return to DP World Tour in 2027 and be eligible for PGA Tour Champions in July 2027 at age 50.
